Drontal Wormers
Known as Britain’s Number 1 Wormer, Drontal is favoured by many cat and dog owners for effective worming treatments. It is a non-prescription wormer that can kill every type of intestinal worm found in the UK.

It is important to understand that different wormers will kill different types of worms. Drontal, however, controls all intestinal worms in cats and dogs. There is thought to be around twelve different intestinal worms that can infect dogs and eight which affect cats, including the roundworm and tapeworm. Drontal works with a single dose and can be given to pets with or without food. In terms of treatment, it is advised that an adult dog or cat should be treated four times a year. In some instances, however, it may be required that a pet is treated more frequently. If, for example, a cat often hunts mice or your dog experiences repeated flea problems, then frequent worming treatment is desirable.

It is feasible for puppies to be born with worm larvae already present. Vet Medic therefore advises treatment to begin from as young as two weeks old and continued every two weeks until a pup reaches twelve weeks old. Kittens on the other hand will not be born with worm larvae present and thus, treatment need not start until the cat is 6 weeks old. Regular worming treatments help to ensure the wellbeing of a pet. Certain worms are capable of being transmitted from animals to humans so treatment reduces environmental contamination and considers public health.

Pet owners are advised to treat their pets for worms before symptoms are obvious. It is often the case that by the time your pet is showing symptoms of worms, they are already suffering. Choose to treat dogs and cats at least every three months to stop the spread of infection in the environment. To treat a pet, give Drontal as a whole or conceal it in food. Vet Medic offers Drontal in tablet or suspension form for puppies and is available at an excellent price.
