Dose

The recommended dosage for Avloclor (Chloroquine) tablets is:

Adults:

2 tablets weekly taken on the same day each week for one week before entering malarious zone (2 tablets)

2 tablets weekly whilst staying or passing through the malarious zone

2 tablets weekly for four weeks on return

For example, a one week trip will require 12 tablets. For two weeks away you will require 14 tablets.

If you require the dose for children, please get in touch with Travelpharm by phone or email and we will try to assist.

If you have any questions about these tablets please read the patient information leaflet and then speak with your doctor or pharmacist.

It is extremely important to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes as the more bites you get the greater the risk of being bitten by an infected mosquito. Mosquitoes carry more than just malaria, which is why it is really important to make sure you observe good bite avoidance. Please read our article on bite avoidance and you may want to stock up on bug sprays and other items like smoke coils to help reduce your risk.

Travelpharm would recommend all travellers who return from malaria regions, who develop a fever within 12 months of their return visit their doctor to exclude the possibility of tropical illness like malaria.

IT IS IMPORTANT NOT TO EXCEED THE STATED DOSE. ALWAYS READ THE ENCLOSED PATIENT INFORMATION LEAFLET.
